Foam-in-place packaging can create different cushion configurations around the same product according to the protection requirement. These photographs show lower support, profile restraint, paired top-and-bottom cushioning and broader coverage around one pump assembly. Final cushion placement, bag count, fill level and carton clearance should be confirmed through representative pack testing.

Expanding foam forms around irregular edges and side profiles to help limit movement inside the carton.

Paired foam cushions provide support above and below the product for more balanced protection inside the carton.

A larger foam contact area can be created when the product shape requires greater enclosure and support.
These examples use one pump assembly to demonstrate possible foam-in-place cushion configurations. Final cushion design should be matched to the product, carton and shipping requirements through representative pack testing.
Film handling and cleaning access influence how a machine works at the pack station. These close-up views show two Tiger Gen 2 details designed around material loading and a controlled flushing step.

Brings the film roll into an accessible loading position for roll changes and visual checks along the feed path.

Places flushing within a defined machine-control sequence, giving operators a clear routine for cleaning the dispensing path.

Bag format is only the starting point. The final layout depends on where the product needs load distribution, clearance, separation or restraint inside the carton or crate.

Useful when a broad cushion must conform around a product or fill a larger controlled space.

Useful for pads, edges, corners, narrow gaps and separation between adjacent surfaces.
The foam cushion is created by two reacting polyurethane components inside a dedicated bag film. Consistent output depends on compatible consumables, controlled settings and a pack design tested with the actual product.

The two components are metered and mixed at the pack station to create the expanding cushion.

The film must match the bag-making, sealing and foam process. Ordinary packaging film is not a direct substitute.
Applications
Explore common automatic foam-in-place packaging applications across automotive parts, pumps and valves, furniture, aerospace parts, general industrial components, and 3PL or e-commerce fulfillment operations. Each sector presents different product geometry, surface sensitivity, weight and shipping risks, so the final cushion design should be confirmed through representative pack testing.

Discuss a Distributor PartnershipChoosing the right automatic foam packaging system depends on your products, cartons, cushion requirements, production workflow and intended consumables.
An automatic foam packaging machine is a foam-in-place system that meters and mixes two liquid components to produce an expanding foam cushion inside film. Automatic systems can feed the film, form the foam bag, dispense the material, seal and cut according to selected production settings.
Yes. SelectPack manufactures protective packaging equipment, including automatic and handheld foam-in-place systems. Machine configuration, consumables and the packing method are reviewed together for each project.
Foam-in-place packaging is commonly used for electronics, instruments, industrial assemblies, automotive parts, medical equipment and other fragile, high-value or irregular products. Suitability depends on product weight, surface sensitivity, carton strength, cushion requirements and the actual shipping risk.
Foam-in-place is particularly useful for fragile, high-value or irregular products and operations where product shapes or carton sizes change frequently. Paper and air cushions may be simpler for lighter or lower-risk products, while pre-cut foam can suit stable, repeat SKUs. The final choice should be based on the product, shipping risk and required level of protection.
SelectPack supports OEM and configurable packaging equipment solutions. Machine configuration, output format, consumables, branding and station requirements can be reviewed for the application. Custom engineering and line-integration requirements remain subject to technical review.
Provide representative product dimensions, carton sizes, required cushion placement, foam bag format, expected packing workflow, available station space, utilities and the intended film and A/B material setup. For international projects, also include the delivery destination and installation conditions.
